# solare° > solare° is a free, real-time 3D simulation of the Solar System that runs in the browser on WebGPU (Rust compiled to WebAssembly) and as a desktop app. It shows planets and moons at their real positions for 1800–2050, runs an N-body gravity sandbox with collisions, and lets you walk or drive on the surface of Earth, Mars and the Moon over real terrain with OpenStreetMap buildings. Interface languages: English, Polish, German, Spanish. Live app: https://solare.adamczewski.app/ Requirements: a browser with WebGPU (recent Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox). No account, no installation, free to use. ## What it does - Solar System: the Sun, eight planets, the Moon with phases and libration, the four Galilean moons and Phobos/Deimos, ring systems of the four giants, a star catalogue, constellations, deep-sky objects and a Milky Way map. - Accuracy: positions from JPL approximate Keplerian elements (1800–2050); Moon from truncated ELP theory; Jupiter and Mars moons from JUP365 / MAR099 ephemerides (2025–2027). It is educational and approximate, not a precision ephemeris. - Gravity sandbox: mutually interacting N-body physics, a collision model (relative kinetic energy versus binding energy, impact angle, escape velocity), adding/editing/destroying bodies. - Demonstrations: light-speed flight, black-hole fall, cinematic camera shots, the death of the Sun. - Surface view: stand on a planet or moon; walk or drive; real terrain and sun position. On Earth: national elevation models (e.g. Polish GUGiK NMT, US 3DEP), OpenStreetMap/OpenFreeMap buildings, roads and water. - Sharing: "Share" produces a link that reopens exactly the same view and simulated moment. ## How to use it - Open the app, drag to look around, wheel/pinch to zoom, Space to pause; choose a body in the search box or panel; choose "Stand on a planet or moon" for the surface view; W/A/S/D move, Q/E change height in free flight. ## Data sources and credits - Ephemerides and parameters: NASA / JPL Solar System Dynamics. Maps: NASA, USGS, Solar System Scope (CC BY 4.0). Buildings and streets: OpenStreetMap contributors via OpenFreeMap / OpenMapTiles. Elevation: GUGiK NMT (Poland), USGS 3DEP, Copernicus DEM. Land cover: ESA WorldCover. - Full list: in the app, "Sources and credits" in the panel. ## Optional - Machine-readable description: https://solare.adamczewski.app/llms-full.txt - Sitemap: https://solare.adamczewski.app/sitemap.xml
